A remarkable educator, gifted musician, and mentor to generations of students and colleagues. Cheryl was a passionate and dedicated band director whose influence reached far beyond the podium. Her legacy lives on in every student who found their voice through music and every educator she guided along the way. Cheryl Corkran helped build the foundation of our band community, and her presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Derle was passionate about music in higher education and served 22 years at the University of Louisiana at Monroe as Director of the School of Visual and Performing Arts. He taught courses in conducting, band literature, and band administration and supervision. He was a mentor to many. LMAA was proud to have had him in our first group of Charter Members who helped to bring this organization to life.
